Aldermoor Lodge
A timber-and-stone lodge set where the upper valley narrows between pine ridges and snowmelt streams. Lantern paths lead from cedar cabins to a hearth-lit dining room, cedar steam, and fireside evenings — a quiet gateway near casino nightlife for travellers who want alpine air before the tables call.
The Upper Valley
Morning here begins with woodsmoke drifting from the lodge chimney and frost lifting off meadow grass. Guest paths are gravel and packed pine needles, edged with stone that locals quarried decades ago. The main lodge sits on a bench above a creek — you hear water before you see it.
We built Aldermoor for people who travel hard and sleep deep. Rooms face east toward ridgeline light or west toward forest shade. Dining runs on valley produce and slow-roasted mains. Evenings gather around the hearth before anyone considers the short drive to brighter districts downhill.
Seasons change the character of the place more than any renovation could. Late spring brings meltwater loud enough to hear from the porch and wildflowers along the lower switchbacks. Summer holds long dusk light until nearly ten. Autumn turns the larch stands gold for about three weeks, usually mid-October. Winter narrows the world to woodsmoke, lantern posts, and the sound of boots on packed snow.
What We Keep Ready
Hearth & Table
The Hearth Room serves venison stew, rye bread, and mountain trout. Timber Bar pours local whisky until midnight on weekends. Breakfast from 7:00 a.m.
Cedar Steam & Cold Plunge
Alpine dry sauna at 80–90°C, cedar steam sessions, and a spring-fed plunge at 8°C. Robes provided; reservations recommended on peak weekends.
Evenings & Ember Den
Folk sets by the fire, stargazing walks, and an optional 18+ gaming room for guests who present valid ID. Never required to stay; play responsibly.
Arriving & Reaching Us
The lodge sits forty minutes above the main valley road, past a stone bridge and two switchbacks marked with lantern posts. Winter tyres are advised from November through April. We do not process bookings or payments on this website — call or write to hold a room, and our front desk confirms availability by return message.
Many guests arrive after dinner elsewhere in the region, using Aldermoor as a restful base before or after an evening out. Parking is gravel, lit at night, with EV charging on request.
If you are driving up after dark, tell us roughly when to expect you and we will leave the porch lanterns burning and a key waiting at the desk. Mobile signal thins about ten minutes below the lodge, so save the directions before you leave the valley road.
